We open 10am to 5pm every day between April 6 and April 28th 2019. In addition to the KaBloom Festival of Flowers, the Tesselaar Tulip Festival opens mid September to mid October every year. For the rest of the year the Tesselaar Flower Farm operates as a mail order and onsite nursery.
Adult ticket prices are $25, concession $22, children 16 and under are free. Groups of ten or more are $22 per person and must be purchased online. Concession tickets include seniors, pension and student cards. We accept the National Companion Card and Carers Card. You can buy your tickets here or purchase them at the gate.
While we offer the online ticketing service you are also welcome to buy your ticket at the gate. The ticket price is the same no matter where it is purchased, however you might save some time on the day by pre-purchasing your ticket.
Dogs on leads are welcome. We provide water for dogs around the grounds. We ask that you please pick up after your pooch.
No, our fields are roped off, but don't worry, there is plenty of areas to get the perfect photos - we run the flowers right up to the ropes and have special paths, so you can take the perfect pic as if you are in amongst the blooms. We rope the flowers at KaBloom because we want everyone to be able to enjoy them, and they are too fragile to open them up.
Yes there is an ATM on-site and you can get money out at the gate or any of our souvenir stalls.
The KaBloom Festival is held on a working farm with unsealed roads and paths. The property is located on a slope. People with limited mobility will require assistance with access. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions. We support the National Companion Card and Carer card. If part, or your entire group, has limited mobility and/or have wheelchairs or walkers, there is separate flat entrance within the car park. On arrival you will need to call for a staff member to open the gate Mon-Fri 9737 7722 or Sat/Sun and Public Holidays, see a car park attendant. Please note, to use this facility tickets must be pre-purchased online or at the main entrance ticket booth onsite before entry.
We have a limited number of wheelchairs available for your convenience, we allow our visitors to use them free of charge. They are located in our Fresh Flower Market. However we do not take reservations and cannot guarantee there will be one for your visit. If a wheelchair is necessary for your visit, just to be on the safeside we advise you bring your own or secure guaranteed hire from elsewhere.
Well, how long is a piece of string? That really depends on how many photographs you want to take, if you are having lunch, if you would like to sit and enjoy to some of our entertainment etc. etc. What we can tell you is the facts; in addition to acres of fields of flowers, we have sensational live entertainment daily and you can see our what’s on page for more information. Some people can be in and out in a couple of hours and see it all, others like to make a day of it, it really depends on you. You could even make it part of a day trip and include one or more local attractions in the gorgeous Dandenong Ranges and Yarra Valley.
Yes, we have a number of tables and chairs available for you to use. You are welcome to bring your own picnic rug, chairs or picnic for that matter and relax for the day.
Yes, we have a range of different food vendors throughout the festival. Every day we have the famous Dutch mini pancakes, or Poffertjes, pulled pork rolls & felafel burgers, twisty potatoes, traditional Turkish Gozleme, German sausages, tea, coffee, roasted potatoes, and cold drinks including beer, wine and cider. On weekends there are additional food trucks and vendors onsite. Food prices range from $3-$23 per item or meal.
You are very welcome to bring your own picnic and enjoy it in our gardens. We have lots of lovely lawn where you can sit down and enjoy the ambiance. We also have picnic tables located throughout. We do not have barbecue facilities on site. We offer pass outs so you can come and go from your car and not have to carry everything around with you.
We have complimentary onsite parking for cars and buses. We have a section of limited mobility parking close to our entrance gate. Please note parking is limited and based on a first come first served system. The areas surrounding the farm are NO STANDING and we actively discourage you from parking on the roads surrounding the farm. If the car park is full, we advise you take a drive, get a coffee, explore the local area and come back in an hour or so, we will reopen the car park as soon as space becomes available.
Yes, we accept the National Companion Card and Carers Card.
No, but we have licensed bar on-site who is permitted to sell a selection of alcoholic drinks including local wines, beers and ciders.
Yes, you are most welcome to have your photos taken here on event days. We do not have areas set aside for private photos so advise you come at 10am on a week day for a more private wedding photo shoot at the KaBloom Festival. We advise you pre-purchase your tickets online to avoid an added wait at the entrance gate (tickets are valid any day so if it is raining and you need to change the date that is no problem). You will need a ticket for everyone including make up artist and photographer. We do not have an additional photo levy. Brides, be advised, we are a working farm and have mud and dirt, so bring along some practical shoes as well as your gorgeous sparkly ones. We also think a picnic blanket or towel is a good idea to stop your dress getting too dirty.
At this time there is no facility to host weddings at the KaBloom Festival. We are thinking about it, but do not have the facilities at this time.
No, we will have bunches of flowers available for purchase but the flowers cannot be removed from the fields - we need them there for everyone to enjoy!
We sure do, people leave a lot of stuff behind - the flowers can be very distracting! Please call us on 9737 7777 and we will do our best to reunite you with your possessions.
As we are an outdoor event it is ok to smoke, but please consider others and dispose of your butts thoughtfully. As per government regulations you are not permitted to smoke in eating areas.
Whilst we always hope for sunshine, Tesselaar KaBloom is an outdoor event that runs rain, hail or shine (and sometimes we have all three in one day). We have free umbrellas for hire on site but you may wish to bring your own. A guide to the weather forecast in Silvan can be found at Weatherzone. We are hardy flower farmers and open rain, hail or shine. In the case of extreme weather events we may be required to close for safety reasons, this will occur if there is an extreme or red alert fire rating or dangerous winds. We will update any information on our Facebook page. All pre purchased tickets are valid for any day so feel free to come when it suits you.
The Tesselaar KaBloom is located on a working farm we recommend you pack a warm coat in case of bad weather, we would hate for you to be cold. Please remember that flowers grow in soil and in Silvan we have lovely red volcanic soil, when it rains soil can become muddy, so if it has been raining, gumboots, or sensible footwear is advisable.
A camera, first and foremost, the flowers are quite photogenic so you will need to take a few snaps! Anything that will make your day more comfortable, such as picnic rugs, a hat in sunny weather, a coat in cold weather, spare batteries for your camera/phone etc.
Alcohol. Drones - sorry as they would fly over peoples head there is a danger to safety. Bicycles, roller blades, roller skates, skateboards, foot propelled scooters or segways.
The majority of our entertainment is free. There are a couple of activities which attract an additional cost and that is the most amazing face painting which is $10 per face and our tractor train ride which is $5pp, $15 for families and free for people with limited mobility and children four and under. Our Easter Egg hunt is $10pp and must be pre-booked here or by availability on the day.
We have a small cottage onsite which has both of these. There is a change table and nappy bins. There is also a comfy rocking chair so you can nurse your baby in comfort and privacy.
Most definitely! Prams are welcome. We are located on a hill so some muscle is required on some areas of the farm but nothing extreme that you wouldn’t experience on a trip to any parkland.
